N.I.E.S 2023 POST EVENT SUMMARY

The 6th Nigeria International Energy Summit (NIES), organized by Brevity Anderson on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources and NNPC Limited, was held from April 16-20, 2023 in Abuja Nigeria. The event was declared open by H.E. Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and focused on the theme “Global Perspectives for a Sustainable Future”, including discussions on several thematic areas.

With over 5,000 participants, the Summit hosted an international panel session on Security vs Energy Transition, which examined the current state of global energy demand and supply in light of current realities. The Emerging Leaders’ Forum on the Future of Energy provided a platform for industry emerging leaders to discuss the latest trends and ideas for the future. They explored ways to make energy more humane while finding solutions to climate neutrality without sacrificing energy affordability.

We should not view Africa as the victim in the journey towards sustainable energy. It is time to discard this notion and recognize that we can be the principal player. Our nation and continent can drive the next stage of global economic progress by becoming the first truly green civilization in the world

H.E. Professor Yemi Osinbanjo, Vice President Federal Republic of Nigeria
